TADA3

DNA-binding transcriptional activator proteins increase the rate of transcription by interacting with the transcriptional machinery bound to the basal promoter in conjunction with adaptor proteins, possibly by acetylation and destabilization of nucleosomes. TADA3 is a transcriptional activator adaptor and a component of the histone acetyl transferase (HAT) coactivator complex which functions crucially in chromatin modulation and cell cycle progression. Along with the other components of the complex, it links transcriptional activators bound to specific promoters, to histone acetylation and the transcriptional machinery. It is also involved in the stabilization and activation of the p53 tumor suppressor protein that functions in the cellular response to DNA damage.
Full Name
TADA3
Function
Functions as a component of the PCAF complex. The PCAF complex is capable of efficiently acetylating histones in a nucleosomal context. The PCAF complex could be considered as the human version of the yeast SAGA complex. Also known as a coactivator for p53/TP53-dependent transcriptional activation. Component of the ATAC complex, a complex with histone acetyltransferase activity on histones H3 and H4.
